BP MARKOWITZ, MAYOR BLOOMBERG TO BREAK GROUND IN BENSONHURST ON “IL CENTRO,” FIRST ITALIAN AMERICAN CULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER IN CITY

On Sunday, October 18, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Brooklyn’s Italian American community will join the Federation of Italian American Organizations (FIAO) for the groundbreaking of the state-of-the art “Il Centro,” New York City’s first Italian American cultural community center. The center, which received support from BP Markowitz, will serve the entire community and provide social programs, recreation, education, cultural initiatives, a senior citizens center, an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, and a performing arts auditorium.
