6:00 P.M. On Thursday, February 26, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will observe Black History Month with a reception and celebration at Borough Hall. This year’s event follows the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama, and attendees will celebrate the theme of “standing on the shoulders of our ancestors.” Honorees are Gail Benjamin, director, City Council Land Use Division; Richard Buery, co-founder & executive director, Groundwork, Inc.; Ngozi Moses, executive director, Brooklyn Perinatal Network, Inc.; and Ophelia Perry, president, Church Women United in Brooklyn, Inc.
