BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON EARTHQUAKE IN ITALY

“The devastating news coming out of Italy hits us especially hard in Brooklyn, where our vibrant Italian-American community is mourning the souls lost in the earthquake and praying for the tens of thousands of residents left injured or homeless. I am proud to say that Brooklynites have always responded to those in crisis around the globe by opening up their hearts and wallets, so I urge them—and all New Yorkers—to contribute to earthquake relief efforts in any way possible. My office has also spoken to the Italian Consul General in New York to offer our condolences and a helping hand as we come together to help Italy recover and rebuild from this terrible disaster.”

For updates on the earthquake and information on victims, please visit the Embassy of Italy website at www.ambwashingtondc.esteri.it/ambasciata_washington
