JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE NYS COURTS FOR OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

The New York State Unified Court System has a need for court interpreters in various foreign languages and in Sign Language. Court Interpreters provide interpreting between English and foreign languages (as well as sign language), in the courtroom and related legal settings.

The court system has provided interpreters in over 100 languages, including but not limited to: Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Burmese, Cantonese, Croatian, Dutch, French, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Kurdish, Laotian, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Urdu and Wolof. Opportunities are currently available on a part-time and/or freelance basis. The rate of pay is $140 for a half-day (up to four hours) or $250 for a full day.

Candidates in all languages are encouraged to apply. For your convenience and distribution, we are including a link to our informational brochure, “Be a Court Interpreter,” as well as the Application for Language Skills Screening and the Candidate Guide: http://nycourts.gov/courtinterpreter/careers.shtml

If additional applications and/or hard copies of any of these materials are needed, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact our office by telephone: (646) 386-5670 or e-mail: courtinterpreter@nycourts.gov
Additional information may also be found on our website:
www.nycourts.gov/courtinterpreter

In addition, if your office is involved in any job-fair or similar community-outreach events, we would be happy to participate. Thank you for your time and consideration.
