BP MARKOWITZ PRESENTS TOYS, PROCLAMATION IN CELEBRATION OF THREE KINGS DAY; PARADE SET FOR SUNDAY IN WILLIAMSBURG

On Friday, January 6, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz presented donated toys and a proclamation to the Three Kings Day Parade Committee and hosted a reception to celebrate Three Kings Day. BP Markowitz will also kick off the 15th annual Three Kings Day Parade at Meeker and Graham Avenues in Williamsburg at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8. Joining BP Markowitz were Parade Committee president Radames Millan; George Hulse, vice president of External Affairs for Healthfirst, a sponsor of the event; Italia Guerrero, Latino liaison at the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office; and Jason Otaño, advisor for legal affairs to the Borough President.

Also known as The Epiphany, Three Kings Day (Día de los Tres Reyes Magos) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child. Traditionally in some parts of the world, Three Kings Day is the gift-giving time, rather than Christmas Day.
