On Thursday, April 01, 2010, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Bloomberg at the Columbus Park Greenmarket and Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza to remind New Yorkers today is the deadline to return 2010 Census forms. Census officials and materials were available at the location.

“In Brooklyn, our diversity is our strength—we’ve got nearly 2.6 million residents, more than 100 ethnic groups, and we speak 136 languages,” said BP Markowitz. “This census year, every Brooklynite must be counted. Everything from our government funding to congressional representation depends on it. My office’s ‘Complete Count Committee’ is reaching out to communities borough-wide and working with community partners to make sure everybody knows that Brooklyn counts!”
