10:30 A.M. On Sunday, October 11, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will welcome the American Heart Association Brooklyn Start! Heart Walk to Prospect Park and join teams of walkers that formed as a result of BP Markowitz’s “Lighten Up Brooklyn” initiative. Other participants include Dr. Anthony Tortolani, New York Methodist Hospital; Dr. Joseph Cunningham, Maimonides Medical Center; emcee Hazel Sanchez, WCBS-TV; and survivor Darnell Collier. The event will be a celebration of the Brooklyn community’s effort to fight the number 1 and number 3 killer of Americans, heart disease and stroke, respectively. |
