On Thursday, August 20, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan to unveil a new series of pedestrian countdown crossing signals that are being tested citywide to determine whether the devices can enhance safety while crossing city streets. The signals display the number of seconds remaining to cross safely before “do not walk.”
