BP MARKOWITZ TO RECOGNIZE CREATIVE STUDENTS, SPECIAL HONOREES AT BROOKLYN JEWISH HERITAGE NIGHT SALUTE TO ISRAEL

On Wednesday, April 29, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and the Brooklyn Jewish Heritage Committee will host the Brooklyn Jewish Heritage Night Salute to Israel ceremony and reception at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Winners of an essay, poetry and playwriting contest for high school and yeshiva students will be announced, and special presentations will be made to this year’s event honorees: Justice Bruce M. Balter, Supreme Court of the State of New York, Kings County; Olga Lipschitz, CEO, Cobble Hill Health Center; Ella J. Weiss, president, Brooklyn Arts Council; Michael Weiss, executive director, MetroTech Business Improvement District; and Human Care Services for Families and Children, Inc., Esther Lustig, executive director.

Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice-chairman, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, will deliver the keynote address. The evening will also feature children performing special musical selections and an exhibition of paintings in recognition of Jewish Heritage Month in the Community Room.
