BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF RABBI SHMUEL BERENBAUM

“Rabbi Berenbaum was a man of courage and vision—a refugee of the Holocaust who took part in the famous escape of the Mir Yeshiva from the Nazis, led the American Mir Institute, and became one of the world’s premier Torah scholars. His breadth of knowledge and integrity of character were admired by all Jewish people. I join Brooklyn, as well as the Mir Yeshiva’s thousands of students here and around the world, in mourning the loss of this great leader.”
