On January 31, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Council member Letitia James and other elected officials at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new International House of Pancakes on Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

The IHOP, which opened to the public in December, joins one other Brooklyn franchises in Canarsie and Flatbush. Owners Dave Cox and Robert Cummins are planning to open three other locations.

“Brooklyn is truly an ‘international’ borough, and I can’t think of a better place for a new and much-needed International House of Pancakes than in Downtown Brooklyn,” said BP Markowitz. “Of course, for those of us fighting the ‘battle of the bulge,’ the ‘Rooty Tooty Fresh ’N Fruity’ is just one more temptation out there. But as Borough President, I feel it’s my civic duty to support this fine establishment, so I will indulge in some delicious IHOP omelettes and pancakes—even if I have to force myself!”
