11:00 P.M. On Wednesday, December 31, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will ring in 2009 with a bang at the 27th annual New Year’s Eve fireworks spectacular at Grand Army Plaza. The free celebration, sponsored by BP Markowitz and held in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance, starts around 11 p.m. with music from Blacksmith Organization. Hot refreshments will be provided by Starbucks. Best locations for viewing the midnight fireworks include anywhere in Grand Army Plaza, inside the Park on the West Drive, and along Prospect Park West between Grand Army Plaza and 9th Street.
