BP MARKOWITZ TO RECOGNIZE CREATIVE STUDENTS, SPECIAL HONOREES AT BROOKLYN JEWISH HERITAGE NIGHT

On Wednesday, April 30, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and the Brooklyn Jewish Heritage Committee will host the Brooklyn Jewish Heritage Night Salute to Israel ceremony and reception at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Winners of an essay, poetry and play writing contest for high school students will be announced, and special presentations will be made to this year’s event honorees: Dr. Yaffa Eliach, President and Founder of the Shtetl Foundation; Dr. Bernard Lander, President and Founder of Touro College; and Shimon Waronker, Principal, Jordan L. Mott, Middle School 22, Bronx. Organizations being honored include the Sephardic Bikur Holum (accepting will be Dr. Mayer Ballas, Board Member and Former President) and Shema Kolainu (represented by Joshua Weinstein, President and Founder).

A special musical presentation will be performed by Six13 and an exhibition of paintings in recognition of Jewish Heritage Month will be displayed in the Community Room Gallery.
