On Sunday, October 21, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined thousands of participants in Prospect Park for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The annual event is a rallying cry to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer, the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women (after nonmelanoma skin cancers) and the second leading cause of cancer death among women, after lung cancer. In addition to BP Markowitz presenting a proclamation and warming up the crowd, “Marty’s Striders” represented the Borough President’s Office and hit the pavement for the more than 3-mile walk.
