On Friday, October 5, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined entertainer Bette Midler, founder of the New York Restoration Project, at a neighborhood opening reception for the revitalized Brooklyn Community Garden on Bedford Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The garden was designed by acclaimed landscape designer Sean Conway, and the project was sponsored by Target. The opening kicked off “Keepin’ it Green Month,” a series of garden openings, planting programs and more to remind everyone to “stay green” even though the leaves are changing color.
