On Thursday, October 4, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host Borough Hall’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Honorees this year are Chef Daisy Martinez, television host and author of Daisy Cooks!; Sixto R. Caro, M.D., Board of Health of the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene; and the Spanish Speaking Elderly Council – RAICES, Inc.

Borough President Markowitz will also be joined by Master of Ceremonies Manny Romero, the first ever Latino to hold the position of Chairman of the New York State Grievance Committee, and Don Perez, Vice President, JP Morgan Chase.

The evening’s events will be a celebration of the many faces of Brooklyn’s Hispanic community, featuring music from Mariachi Tapatio De Alvaro Paulino and food representative of many nations. One out of every five Brooklynites can trace their roots to a Spanish-speaking country, and Borough President Markowitz is proud to celebrate the contributions of this vibrant community.
