BP MARKOWITZ CELEBRATES THE START OF BEACH SEASON AT CONEY ISLAND

On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined with New York City Parks and Recreation Department Commissioner Adrian Benepe and Council Member Domenic Recchia to officially open the Coney Island, Manhattan, and Brighton beaches for the summer.

“Whether you come for the sunshine, the hot dogs, the music, the cyclone, or the nationally known Mermaid Parade—which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year—I assure you, it’s hip to make that Coney Island trip!”

Among the many reasons to head to the beach: professional beach volleyball returns to Coney Island August 23-26.
