BP MARKOWITZ’S STATEMENT ON THE DEATHS OF THREE YOUNG MEN IN BROWNSVILLE

“Wednesday night, Brooklyn natives Michael Robinson, 21, Delroy Gumbs, 18, and Brandon Graves, 16, were fatally shot while across the street from one of their homes in Brownsville.

Brooklyn is outraged at these senseless murders. It is unacceptable that, despite declining crime rates, Brooklyn’s youth still fall prey to such heinous acts of violence. That these three were taken from their families in the prime of their lives is horrific and unforgivable. Certainly, we will not rest until the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice and our streets are free of guns used so freely to kill.

We also know that no action in the days ahead can bring these three young people back to those who loved them. I speak for all of Brooklyn when I say that the families of Michael Robinson, Delroy Gumbs, and Brandon Graves are in the thoughts and prayers of millions of Brooklynites and New Yorkers.”
