BP MARKOWITZ TO CELEBRATE BROOKLYN LGBT PRIDE
6:00 P.M.
THURSDAY, JUNE 7
BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL ROTUNDA
209 JORALEMON STREET
BETWEEN COURT & ADAMS STREETS
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Thursday, June 7, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and New York State Assemblyman Matt Titone will join in the weeklong celebration of Brooklyn Gay Pride by honoring outstanding members of the LGBT community. Brooklyn is proud home to the city’s largest LGBT population.
Borough President Markowitz will honor two individuals and an organization that have made strides to improve the lives of Brooklynites from all walks of life. Gary Parker, co-chair of Lambda Independent Democrats, Susan Summer Esq., senior counsel of Lambda Legal, and the Rainbow Heights Club will be recognized for their passion and work for visibility, community service, and equality in Brooklyn and the world at large.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature one-of-a-kind performances by recording artist Jeannie Sol, R & B singer Michael Ashanti, celebrity impersonator Howie V. Cher, and TV personality Clover Honey.
Brooklyn Borough Hall is the only civic building in New York City where the rainbow flag will fly in celebration of gay pride. On Saturday, June 9, Borough President Markowitz’s float will appear in the 11th annual Brooklyn LGBT Pride Night Parade, which kicks off at 8:30 pm from Prospect Park West and 15th Street. Earlier that day, at 3:00 p.m., Borough President Markowitz will present a proclamation to Brooklyn Pride.
