BP MARKOWITZ AND CONGRESSMAN ED TOWNS JOIN SENIORS FOR “SWING THIS BROOKLYN: WELLNESS THROUGH MUSIC”

10:00 AM
TUESDAY, JUNE 5
KLITGORD CENTER AUDITORIUM & GYMNASIUM
NEW YORK CITY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
285 JAY STREET (AT TILLARY)
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Tuesday, June 5, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join Congressman Ed Towns and the renowned Harlem Blues and Jazz Band at a special program encouraging seniors to stay healthy by staying active. “Swing This Brooklyn: Wellness Through Music” is organized by HealthCare Partners, IPA.

At the event, seniors from across the borough will have the opportunity to tap their feet to the sounds of an authentic swing band and will also have access to important health information from the American Diabetes Association and other organizations

More than 10 million Americans 60 years of age or older—more than 20% of that age group—have diabetes. “Swing This Brooklyn: Wellness through Music” will call attention to this disturbing fact, and show what can be done about it.

The Health Insurance Plan of New York (HIP) is the primary sponsor for this event; other sponsors include Congressman Ed Towns, Borough President Marty Markowitz, and the American Diabetes Association.

For more information about the program, and to make reservations, call 800-501-1799.
