BOYZ II MEN AND RUBEN STUDDARD TO PERFORM FREE SHOW AT BROOKLYN’S WINGATE FIELD
Despite heavy rain in the early part of the day, the show will go on!

The 25th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Concert Series at Wingate Field in Central Brooklyn, hosted by Borough President Marty Markowitz, will continue today with highly anticipated performances by American Idol winner Ruben Studdard and Grammy-winning R&B stars Boyz II Men.

Boyz II Men, the most commercially successful R&B group of all time, is celebrating years of setting industry records in the 90's with smooth smash hits like "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," and the collaboration with Mariah Carey, "One Sweet Day." Philadelphia's Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris recorded five #1 pop hits between 1992 and 1997 and have sold over 60 million records worldwide, stacking up a host of Grammys, American Music Awards, World Music Awards, NAACP Image Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards. The Boyz recently announced a joint business venture with Donald Trump to build a casino in Philadelphia where they will manage the entertainment side of the business venture. Look for the new Boyz II Men CD, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA in stores this winter.

Ruben Studdard would be the first to agree that the past three years have been amazing, rewarding and challenging. The big, gregarious R&B smoothy, nicknamed "The Velvet Teddy Bear," brings to Brooklyn the mellow style and easygoing personality that made him the 2003 American Idol champ. Since his big win, this Birmingham, Alabama native has recorded two albums, the platinum Soulful and the gold-plated gospel outing I Need An Angel, all while touring, making TV appearances, picking up awards, and serving his adoring public through the Ruben Studdard Foundation for the Advancement of Children in Music Arts. His new album, Return, featuring some of biggest names in R&B, such as producer Scott Storch and Ne-Yo, will not only prove satisfying to the loyal audience Ruben has created over the past few years but is likely to expand his reach to new listeners who will appreciate the undeniable creative and vocal growth.

Wingate Field is located on Winthrop Street between Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues, opposite Kings County Hospital. The public is encouraged to bring chairs because seating is limited.  Performers are subject to change without notice.
