On December 20, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined community and business leaders, including Barbara Cohn, Executive Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Department of Homeless Services, and Carl Hum, President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, in giving away thousands of donated scarves, hats and toys at Brooklyn Borough Hall during the annual Borough Hall toy drive.

More than two dozen service organizations, including churches, youth groups and shelters, received an amazing and abundant collection of warm accessories and new toys, from Hot Wheels, basketballs, and stuffed animals to board games and bicycles, all generously donated by scores of individuals and corporate sponsors. An anonymous donor provided the hats and scarves to be delivered to deserving children.

“What better way to practice the real meaning of the holiday season than to send a little cheer and warmth to those whom need it the most,” said Borough President Markowitz.
