BP MARKOWITZ JOINS BROOKLYN AND QUEENS LAWMAKERS IN DENOUNCING TALK OF EAST RIVER BRIDGE TOLLS

On December 16, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Queens Council Member David Weprin and State Senator Eric Adams on the steps of City Hall to speak out against any plan to impose tolls on motorists using four East River Bridges connecting Brooklyn and Queens with Manhattan.

“As far as I’m concerned, any proposal to charge motorists to use the East River bridges is dead on arrival,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Tolls on the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Queensboro Bridges would be absolutely discriminatory against residents of the boroughs outside Manhattan, especially Brooklyn. With the cost of living in New York City already too high for many of our hard-working residents, the last thing we need is another tax—and no matter what you call it, that’s what this is.”
