BP MARKOWITZ TO HOST HOLIDAY CELEBRATION, DISTRIBUTE GIFTS AND BOOKS TO 3,000 CHILDREN

1:00 P.M.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15
CHRISTIAN CULTURAL CENTER
12020 FLATLANDS AVENUE
ENTRANCE ON LOUISIANA AVENUE
BROOKLYN

On Saturday, December 15, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host 3,000 children, their parents and guardians, and more than 200 volunteers at the Best of Brooklyn 2007 Holiday Celebration, a festive day of performances, refreshments and holiday gifts. Sixty-three buses have been chartered to bring the children to the Christian Cultural Center from low-income housing and shelters throughout Brooklyn.

The stage show will include the musical magic of the Sesame Flyers Youth Steel Orchestra; the cheerleading, dancing and stepping of the Gowanus Wildcats drill team; Anna Jack (guest of “Late Night with David Letterman”) and daughter Daniella with oodles of poodles; selections from “The Nutcracker” with the Brooklyn Ballet and Youth Ensemble; the high energy acrobatics of the Bounce Brothers; and Crowations, a quartet of singing, comic puppets.

Following the program, each child will select a new toy and new book from the gift rooms. The toys and books have been generously contributed by great corporate citizens and toy drives across the borough. Refreshments have been donated by Snapple and Entenmann’s.

This year’s theme is “Bee Merry,” with the Bee Merry Company, including the Queen Bee, Busy Bee, Bumbles Bee and Baby Bee, providing entertainment.
