BP MARKOWITZ TO JOIN CONGRESSWOMAN YVETTE CLARKE IN ANNOUNCING COORDINATED HURRICANE DEAN RELIEF EFFORT ALONG WITH CARIBBEAN ELECTED OFFICIALS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS 

U.N. Consuls General join with officials and community leaders to facilitate emergency aid and donations

On Wednesday, August 22, Borough President Marty Markowitz and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, along with Governor Eliot Spitzer’s office, Assembly Member Nick Perry, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Guillermo Linares, Council Member Mathieu Eugene, and other Brooklyn and New York City elected officials and community leaders join forces with various Caribbean U.N. Consuls General and community leaders to announce a coordinated campaign to provide emergency assistance through aid and donations to Caribbean regions and people affected by the devastation of Hurricane Dean this week.

Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham, herself a Jamaican immigrant and public health professional, will begin the proceedings.
