BP MARKOWITZ HOSTS BOOK SIGNING FOR
BROOKLYN’S FLATBUSH: BATTLEFIELD TO EBBET’S FIELD

6:00 P.M.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9
BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL TOURISM CENTER
209 JORALEMON STREET, GROUND FLOOR
BETWEEN COURT & ADAMS STREETS
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Thursday, November 9, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will welcome authors Brian Merlis and Lee Rosenzweig to Borough Hall to sign copies of “Brooklyn’s Flatbush: Battlefield to Ebbet’s Field,” the latest book in their series about historic Brooklyn neighborhoods.

In their seventh Brooklyn-themed collaboration, Merlis and Rosenzweig chronicle the history of Flatbush from its settlement, as a small 17th century Dutch outpost that served as a staging ground for the Battle of Brooklyn, through modern times. Borough President Markowitz, who grew up in nearby Crown Heights and represented parts of Flatbush as a state senator, penned the introduction to the book, which is filled with illustrations, maps, and hundreds of vintage photographs, which bring one of Brooklyn’s liveliest and most storied neighborhoods to life.

“In Brooklyn, you know that your neighborhood has truly arrived when Brian and Lee publish a book about it,” said Borough President Markowitz. “From the contributions of Dutch settlers to the history of our Jewish communities to the vibrancy of our Caribbean enclaves, this book will help ensure that we continue to remember our history as we celebrate the current Brooklyn renaissance and move forward into our borough’s bright future.”
