On Monday, May 8, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz welcomed Coach Eliot Weiss and the members of the Edward R. Murrow High School chess team to Borough Hall to celebrate their win at the National High School Chess Championship for the third year in a row and the sixth time in the team’s 22-year history.

The Murrow team beat the favored Catalina Foothills High School team from Tucson by just half a point to claim the title in Milwaukee on April 23.
