BP MARKOWITZ UNDERGOES STENT PROCEDURE

After experiencing some physical discomfort on Saturday, June 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz checked himself into Maimonides Medical Center to be evaluated. The medical staff determined that the best course of action was to insert a stent into two of the borough president’s coronary arteries. The stent procedure, one of the most common medical procedures, was completed quickly and successfully while the borough president remained conscious.

He is recovering comfortably at Maimonides, is eating and in excellent spirits, and is looking forward to returning to a full schedule of work as soon as possible. Borough President Markowitz’s wife, Jamie, has been by his side at the hospital.

“I want all Brooklynites and New Yorkers to know that I’m doing great and feeling fine, and can’t wait to get back to work for Brooklyn,” said Borough President Markowitz. “I guess I’m now a member of one of the largest 60-plus groups in America—the stent club.”
