On Wednesday, June 7, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz honored students at the annual Best of Brooklyn Student Achievement award ceremony at Borough Hall. Five hundred students from the borough’s public and parochial elementary, intermediate, and high schools were recognized for their civic and academic achievements.

“Looking out at the smartest and most gifted and most talented young people in this borough, I see a very bright future not only for Brooklyn, but for all of America,” said Borough President Markowitz. “You will be successful throughout your lives because of your perseverance, your respect for yourself and for others, and your desire to be the best you can be. Around here, we call that the Brooklyn attitude.”

Each student received a Best of Brooklyn certificate for his/her high achievement in academics, the arts, science, sports, or community involvement. The annual event gave Borough President Markowitz a chance to commend the students for their hard work and to acknowledge the efforts of teachers and parents.
