“WELCOME: BROOKLYN’S IN THE HOUSE!”
Latest BP Markowitz road sign greets motorists on Jackie Robinson Parkway.
The latest road sign to inform motorists that they have arrived in the greatest city in America, Brooklyn, reads “Welcome: Brooklyn’s in the House!” It was recently installed on the Jackie Robinson Parkway at the Brooklyn-Queens border.
The sign is tenth in the series of slogans conceived by Borough President Marty Markowitz, which also includes “Welcome to Brooklyn: How Sweet It Is!” and “Leaving Brooklyn: Fuhgeddaboudit!” The signs, which measure 5-feet high by 8-feet wide, are posted at entry or exit points to Brooklyn on major roadways such as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Belt Parkway. A total of 16 signs with the 10 slogans have been installed.
“Brooklynites now have another reason to celebrate, like I do, when they return to the borough we call home,” said Borough President Markowitz. “And for those visiting from our northeastern suburb of Queens or beyond, this sign will remind them to switch on their Brooklyn attitude.”
With assistance from Mayor Bloomberg and the city’s Department of Transportation, the “Welcome: Brooklyn’s in the House!” sign was installed on the Jackie Robinson Parkway near the Bushwick Avenue exit (Exit 1) in Bushwick.
