Justice of Appellate Division, 2nd Dept.; Margarita López Torres, sister of the artist and member of WBA; Mindy Zlotogura, President of WBA of NYS; and Karen Rothenberg (back) Borough President Markowitz; Theresa Ciccotto, President of BWBA; Hipólito López Torres; Nancy Bannon, Past-president of the BWBA and Chair of the Portrait Unveiling Committee; and Leslie Lanigan, niece of Justice Judge.

On Thursday, March 24, Borough President Marty Markowitz joined local elected officials and the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Women’s Bar Association (WBA) of New York State. The event also showcased the first portrait of a woman ever to be permanently installed on the walls of Borough Hall. The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association commissioned the portrait of Brooklyn’s first female State Supreme Court Justice, Honorable Beatrice M. Judge (1895-1998). Brooklyn artist Hipólito López Torres created the portrait, and the Brooklyn Bar Association provided the frame.
