Over 100 couples married more than fifty years to renew their vows
On February 11, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and his wife, Jamie Snow-Markowitz will welcome more than 100 Brooklyn couples married over fifty years to the Grand Ballroom of the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge to renew their vows. The Markowitzs will honor the devotion of these couples with a champagne toast, love ballads from their youth, and a wedding cake reception. Brooklyn’s most romantic couples will share the secrets to staying together for over half a century. The Borough President’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day. He and Jamie are newlyweds, having been married for just five years.
“I encourage Brooklyn’s most romantic couples to come and celebrate their devotion to each other,” said Borough President Markowitz. “It will put a huge smile on my face, a spring in my step, and a glimmer of hope in my heart to officiate as these inspirational couples renew their love vows. Of course, when Jamie and I have been married 50 years, I’ll be just 105 years old – and Jamie will be 21.”
The New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is located at 333 Adams Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The event will run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you are Brooklyn couple, married for 50 years or more, and would like to attend this free reception please RSVP at 718-802-3717.
This event is made possible by gracious support from AARP New York, Healthfirst and the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.
