2:00 P.M. (BP SPEAKS)
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17
CHRISTIAN CULTURAL CENTER
12020 FLATLANDS AVENUE
(AT LOUISIANA AVE.)
EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN

On Saturday, December 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will help 3,000 Brooklyn children who live in shelters or NYCHA Housing get into the Christmas spirit when he hosts Best of Brooklyn Holiday Celebration 2005 at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York. Borough President Markowitz will share the spotlight with King Kong, and the Gingerbread Man, Snowman and Christmas Tree characters. Each child will enter the toy rooms brimming with games, sporting equipment, dolls, and more to select a new toy.

This year’s lively, family-style show “Christmas with Friends” has something for everyone, including performances by Anna Jack, her daughter Daniella the “Hula Hoop Girl” & their poodles; renowned magician Lemont Haskins; A Brooklyn Nutcracker performed by Brooklyn Music School; puppet masters The Crowations; stilt walkers Christina Gelsone and Ted Lawrence of Clown Around; New York City tap dancing pros The Young Hoofers; and the Burdetsky Family Circus Doll Act.

Every child will receive a new book along with their new toy provided by the event’s dozens of sponsors. The kids will have plenty of gifts to choose from, including classic games, a wide range of sporting equipment, and of course the hottest new toys, such as King Kong and Chicken Little characters and games, Sesame Street toys, Care Bears, Doodle Bears, FDNY & NYPD action dolls & Barbies.
