BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL
209 JORALEMON STREET
BETWEEN COURT & ADAMS STREETS
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Wednesday, December 14, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host a Lifeguard Summit. The goal of the summit is to address how to train, recruit, and retain more lifeguards for Coney Island and Brighton Beach. The Borough President, panelists and the public will work together to find creative solutions to attracting more lifeguards to staff Brooklyn’s beaches. Panelists include Liam Kavanagh, First Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Parks & Recreation, Dr. Jane Katz, former Olympian and aquatic education expert, Carl Quigley, Athletic Director for St. Francis College, and Peter Stein, President of the Lifeguard Supervisors Union. Each panelist will speak briefly followed by a short intermission and a question and answer session.
