Young Photographer Receives Professional Quality Pentax Digital Camera

On Thursday, April 28, Borough President Marty Markowitz honored 17-year-old photographer Kathleen Ching. The Abraham Lincoln High School senior was one of two students in the country to receive the top photo prize in the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards scholarship competition. The Bensonhurst teen’s award-winning photos document the emotional tension between families. For her efforts, the Borough President gave Kathleen a professional digital camera, compliments of Pentax and Willoughby’s photographic emporium.

“Kathleen, you represent what Brooklyn is all about,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Congratulations for winning this prestigious award. You have made all of Brooklyn proud. I also want to commend your photography teacher Carlos Molina at Lincoln for inspiring his students to reach their full potential.”
