Affinity Health Plan Opens Brooklyn Community Service Center

Photographs by Kathryn Kirk

On April 14 Affinity Health Plan celebrated the opening of a Brooklyn Community Service Center that will provide information to residents about the health plan’s programs and offer workshops, health fairs and health screening related to prenatal and newborn care, asthma, HIV/AIDS, childhood obesity other health-related issues. Having a service center in Brooklyn will make it easier for resident to enroll in Affinity-managed state health plans such as Health Plus, and will allow those who are members to get assistance more readily. In this photo, from left, are Affinity’s Director of Community Relations Denise Rogers, President and CEO Maura Bluestone, Sr. VP and Chief Operating Officer Barbara Kelman, and Borough President Marty Markowitz.

“You can have all the material possessions your desire, but without a healthy body you won’t be able to enjoy them,” Markowitz said. “I commend Affinity for its dedication to insuring Brooklynites of modest incomes. A healthier Brooklyn is in everyone’s best interests. I urge all Brooklynites who lack health insurance to visit the center to explore options for affordable coverage.”

The new center is located on Church Avenue at Flatbush Avenue.
