On Wednesday, September 15, Borough President Marty Markowitz joined CEO Leslie Koch of the Fund for Public Schools and Robin Domeniconi of Real Simple magazine at P.S. 38 in Brooklyn to promote Get Organized New York, the largest tag sale ever, to be held in Central Park on October 16 and 17. Net proceeds will benefit the Fund for Public Schools. Students from P.S. 38 and Principal Beverly Stern helped to announce the new initiative.

“Brooklyn’s public schools need our help,” said Borough President Markowitz. “I’m sure that there are a lot of Brooklyn homes, including mine, that could use a belated spring cleaning and a little help organizing. So this weekend I ask that all Brooklynites check their closets and drawers for gently used clothing, toys and games, or great books and CDs, and donate them to Get Organized New York to help support public education.”

Donations can be dropped off at the following Washington Bank Mutual branches in Brooklyn this Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• 192-194 Smith Street
• 12 Graham Avenue in Williamsburg
• 426 86th Street in Bay Ridge
• 2401 Ralph Avenue in Mill Basin
• 533 5th Avenue in Park Slope
