On Saturday, May 1st, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined the residents of Boerum Hill in their fourth annual salute to spring and presented them with a proclamation for their efforts in cleaning and greening their neighborhood.

The proclamation proclaimed Saturday “Boerum Hill 2004 Greening Day in Brooklyn, USA.”

The annual event, sponsored by the Boerum Hill Association, encourages Boerum Hill residents to clean the tree pits on their block, spruce up their yards and fill their window boxes. Free mulch and compost, as well as information on proper plant care, are offered to all participants.
