CELEBRATES THE START OF BEACH SEASON AT CONEY ISLAND

On Thursday, May 27th, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City Parks and Recreation Department Commissioner Adrian Benepe and local elected officials at a press conference on Coney Island to announce the start of the beach season on May 29th.

Borough President Markowitz, Mayor Bloomberg, and local elected officials also unveiled the Wonder Wheel Pavilion, one of four new pavilions along the boardwalk, which will offer musical performances and activities from now until Labor Day. The pavilion was donated by the Wonder Wheel Amusement Park. The other pavilions are: the Dreamland Pavilion, donated by the Coney Island Chamber of Commerce; the Astroland Pavilion, donated by Astroland Amusement Park; and the Steeplechase Pavilion, donated by the Friends of the Boardwalk.
