Borough President Marty Markowitz discusses the Brown v. Board of Education decision’s impact on Brooklyn with students from his alma mater, Wingate High School.

Today, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz participated in the Law Day event at his alma mater, Wingate High School, and joined in the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision.

“50 years ago this past Monday, five years before I started at Wingate, one of the most important Supreme Court decisions in American history was handed down,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Today, I urge you to appreciate the opportunities that you have, and to preserve those opportunities by taking full advantage of your education, whether at Wingate, college, or in graduate school.”

Brown v. Board of Education was ruled on May 17, 1954.
