On March 11th, Brooklyn Borough President Marty
Markowitz joined Project Reach Youth in hosting a college fair
for Brooklyn young people, “From Brooklyn to College and
Beyond.”
The event, “From Brooklyn to College and Beyond,”
provided firsthand information about academic programs, as well
as the college application and financial aid process. Participating
high school seniors also had the opportunity to win a number
of $500 academic scholarships granted by the Coca-Cola Bottling
Company, Independence Community Bank and HealthPlus. More than
30 colleges and universities participated in the fair, which
was sponsored by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Independence
Community Bank, Commerce Bank, Astoria Federal Savings Bank,
HealthPlus and M&T Bank.
“Brooklyn
today is America tomorrow, and we don’t need to look any
further than the people in this room for proof of how bright
our future will be,” said Borough President Markowitz.
“I want to congratulate each and every student here today
for all of your hard work throughout your years in school, which
have brought you to this point.”
