On March 11th, Brooklyn Borough President Marty
Markowitz traveled to Kingsborough Community College to celebrate
their certification as a Cruise Line Industry Association (CLIA)
instructional school - the first in Brooklyn.
The new program, offered through Kingsborough’s Travel
and Tourism department, started in March with 50 students, and
offers mid-level management training. Borough President Markowitz
joined many cruise line executives in applauding the program,
which he considers a boon to Brooklyn’s burgeoning cruise
line industry.
“Soon,
with a little luck, Atlantic Avenue will be the site of a new
cruise line terminal, that’s how much things have improved
in Brooklyn,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Brooklyn
is at the beginning of a new chapter in its history, and there
is no better place to invest or launch a new business, or a
cruise ship.”
