Panel to Address Same-Sex Marriage and the Role of the
Courts in Civil Rights and Social Change

The Alliance: Gay/Straight Alliance of the New York State Courts and the Lesbian and Gay Law Association of Greater New York (LeGaL) are proud to sponsor a panel on "Same-Sex Marriage: The Role of the Courts in Civil Rights and Social Change." The panel will be held on Thursday June 10 at Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street) from 6 - 8 :30 pm.

Featured will be major figures in the movement for same-sex marriage including the Hon. Jason West, Mayor of the Village of New Paltz and Hon. John Shields, Mayor of the Village of Nyack. In addition,
Aubrey Lees, Esq., Private practice attorney, Prof. Ruthann Robson from CUNY Law School, Norman Siegel, Esq., Counsel to Mayor Shields and Susan Sommer, Esq., staff attorney from the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund will participate. Hon. Philip Reed, a member of the New York City Council will moderate the program.
