For second year in a row, Brooklyn Cyclones win Borough President’s Trophy
For the second year in a row, the Brooklyn Cyclones won the prestigious Borough President’s Trophy, beating the Staten Island Yankees 7-5 in this season’s 12 game series, and, on Saturday, December 18, Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro finally paid off his bet and treated Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to dinner at the Brooklyn restaurant of Marty’s choice — Ponte Vecchio’s in Bay Ridge.
“Once again it has been proven that the Staten Island Yankees can’t hold a bridge to the Brooklyn Cyclones,” said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. “I encourage Staten Island, which I consider a southwestern suburb of Brooklyn, to finally come to grips with the fact that we are and always will be the “Kings” of the diamond – this year, next year and every year. The Brooklyn Cyclones’ 7-5 victory over the Staten Island Yankees this season keeps the prestigious Borough President’s Trophy where it belongs — in the City of Brooklyn.”
