Central
America’s most successful family restaurant opens in Sunset
Park.
Today, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz participated in a
ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Pollo Campero Restaurant
at 4506 Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park. This new restaurant is
the second in the New York Metropolitan area and the first in
Brooklyn.
“Brooklyn
is proud to welcome the world-renowned Pollo Campero to Sunset
Park,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Pollo
Campero knows that Brooklyn is the best place in America to
do business in the 21st century, and we look forward to their
growing with us as our economy expands.”
Pollo
Campero has almost 200 locations in nine Latin American countries
and in the United States. The Sunset Park location is the second
in the New York Metropolitan area. In July, the chain opened
its first New York City restaurant in Corona, Queens. The two
locations will create 250 jobs.
The
family restaurant chain was founded in Guatemala in 1971 by
Don Dionisio Gutierrez and his father Don Juan Buatista Gutierrez.
The chain specializes in fried chicken and Latin-American sides,
such as rice and beans. It employs more than 6,000 employees
across the globe, serving more than 75 million orders per year.
