On Tuesday, August 3, Borough President Marty
Markowitz joined the officers and members of police precincts
throughout Brooklyn to commemorate National Night Out Against
Crime.
Borough
President Markowitz praised the efforts of New York’s
Finest, and encouraged community members to get involved in
their neighborhoods crime prevention programs.
National
Night Out Against Crime is a unique crime/drug prevention event
that unites citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups,
businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials in
the fight for safer streets and communities. The goals of the
annual event are to; heighten crime and drug prevention awareness,
generate support for local anticrime programs, strengthen police
and community partnerships; and most importantly to send a message
to criminals that the neighborhoods are organized and fighting
back.
