On Sunday, August 1, 2004, Borough President
Marty Markowitz joined the members of Neighbors Helping Neighbors
in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Park Slope Fifth Avenue
Farmer’s Market.
Borough President Markowitz praised the new shopping venue,
and declared Sunday, “Park Slope Fifth Avenue Farmer’s
Market Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Day in Brooklyn, USA.”
The goal of the Park Slope Farmer’s Market on Fifth Avenue
is to provide area residents with fresh produce, and locally
grown and raised poultry and meats, as well as locally made
breads and cheeses. It was started by Neighbors Helping Neighbors,
a local non-profit that works with Fifth Avenue merchants. The
market will be open every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
through November 28th.
