Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joins over 40 seniors from the Midwood Senior Center to celebrate the success of “A Brooklyn State of Mind,” an original production conceived by teens from the Youth Entertainment Services (Y.E.S.) 2004 Company and Y.E.S. Creative Director William Michael Maher.

This summer five Brooklyn teens have been traveling to two senior centers each day throughout the borough to entertain their elders with a musical review full of Brooklyn spirit. The young actors include Omar Abdelaziz, Danyel Fulton, Nikita Hill, Erik Katz and Samantha Richards. The Y.E.S. Company started performing on August 2 and will present their last show this Friday. The teens will have performed at a total of 30 senior centers by the end of the program.

Y.E.S is a 2004 pilot program to provide professional work experience for young performers as part of Borough President Markowitz’s HEAT Program (Help Employ Ambitious Teens) The Y.E.S. program is made possible with funding from AmeriChoice in honor of its 10th Anniversary.
