BOROUGH PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY BOARDS

Borough President Marty Markowitz announced today the appointments and reappointments of several hundred Brooklynites to Brooklyn’s community boards. According to the New York City Charter, Borough President Markowitz, in consultation with the local Councilmembers who represent any part of the Board district, is responsible for the selections.

“Our community boards are the backbone of Brooklyn. Community board membership carries great responsibilities since board members play important roles in zoning and other land-use issues, in community planning, in the city’s budget process and in the coordination of municipal services,” Borough President Markowitz said. “We are so fortunate to have so many dedicated Brooklynites that are willing to devote a substantial amount of time to improving our neighborhoods and the entire borough. I am committed to maintaining the most active and effective boards to serve all the needs of Brooklyn’s communities.”
