STATEMENT BY BOROUGH PRESIDENT MARKOWITZ ON THE POSSIBILITY OF THE NEW JERSEY NETS RELOCATING TO BROOKLYN

"Brooklyn is a world class city, and we deserve a world class sports franchise. We have everything right here in Brooklyn, but the only thing we are missing is a national sports team. I have no doubt that a NBA team in Brooklyn would be the league's most successful franchise because basketball is the sport of choice throughout Brooklyn. As a 12 year old, I cried like a baby when the Dodgers departed in 1957. I can't wait to cry tears of joy."
